Not all colleges in Canada offer the same PGWP opportunity. Choosing the right institution is your first step toward legally working and settling in Canada.
Checklist for Picking the Right College:
✔ Designated Learning Institution (DLI)
Only institutions on this list can offer programs eligible for PGWP. Use the [IRCC DLI tool] to check.
✔ Program Length
For a 3-Year PGWP, your program must be at least 2 years (or two consecutive 1-year programs).
✔ Public vs. Private
Most public colleges are PGWP-eligible. Some private colleges in Quebec qualify, but eligibility is complex — always verify.
Good Choice Example:
Public college, 2-year diploma in IT — PGWP eligible.
Risky Choice Example:
Private career college outside Quebec — not PGWP eligible.
